A good example of the pateneted Victorian child's correction chair dating to around 1830.  The chair measures 100cm high, 40cm wide and only 28cm deep

These correction (also know as deportment) chairs are named after their inventor Sir Astley Paston Cooper (1768-1841). Sir Cooper, a surgeon and anatomist designed these chairs in order to correct faulty posture in children: the design of the chair forces children to sit on it correctly.
